Learn how to make big paper stars from lunch bags!

Anna and I made big paper stars from plain old lunch bags today. When we saw a video of this being done for the first time, we both let out a gasp of delight. We knew that this was on our must-do list and made sure it was in our rotation ASAP. We have a feeling it will be on yours, too.

Why? Because it’s an easy craft, even for those who are self-described as craft-impaired. All you need is a handful of paper lunch bags, a glue stick, a pair of scissors, and your hands. But don’t let the simplicity of the craft fool you. The result is a gorgeous decoration fit for bedrooms and birthday parties or any other dark corner of your home.

Want to take it up a notch? Try your hand at splatter painting for that extra OOMPH. (And pretend like you’re a rock star in the process.)

Directions:

  1. Stack your lunch bags together, making sure they all face the same direction. Take a bag from the top and add a strip of glue down the middle and then one across the bottom in an upside down T. Place a bag on top of it and do it again until you get to the last bag.
  2. Cut your bag into whatever shape you like. We cut the top corners into a point and then did small triangles in the sides. You could just cut a point or find another shape of your liking!
  3. Once you’re happy with the way your bags are cut, glue the top bag. Open the bags so they fan out and press together the two ends. ET VOILA.
  4. Paint if you’d like. Otherwise, leave as is.
  5. You can add string to hang them from the ceiling or simply sit and admire your handy work.
